VRML stands for Virtual Reality Modeling Language. Virtual reality (VR) is a interactive technology that simulates 3-D reality in real time. VRML is the markup language for virtual reality. It accomplishes the same thing for VR that HTML accomplishes for text: it determines how the program will be executed. Right now, VRML is only a draft proposal, but it is only a matter of time before it is incorporated into the Web.
VRML allows the transport of computer-generated graphics over a network. In order to use VRML on your computer, you need a VRML viewer such as WebSpace (see URL above).
There are three basic requirements for a three-dimensional Web interface such as VRML. First, it must have object definitions that indicate what the geometric representations are for each object. Second, it needs the ability to connect a URL to an object within a specific scene. Third, it has to offer scene definitions, that indicate what an object's placement is within a larger context.
